I Spit on Your Grave (2010 remake)

I Spit on Your Grave is a remake of the 1978 rape revenge classic. The 2010 version is directed by Steven R. Monroe and stars Daniel Franzese, Sara Butler, and Chad Lindenberg. It's slated for a dvd release on Feb. 8th in the U.S. and is currently unrated.
Let me start by saying that when it comes to remakes I try to keep an open mind and a seperation between the remake and the original, becuase in most cases the remake has no chance of living up to the original (with the exception of The Hills Have Eyes). That being said, this movie is fucking awesome! It is defenitly not for the squeamish. The rape sceenes are dulled down a bit from the original, but the revenge kills are way more thoughtful, brutal, and graphic. This movie on it's own is an instant classic. Too many times these days Hollywood has taken great horror movies and destroyed them, case in point being Last House on the Left. But with I Spit on Your Grave they managed to knock it out of the park. There was good acting from the cast, a believable plot and the director manages to suck you into the movie. The only thing it misses is the dirty, grimey feeling that the original captured. Anyone that was a fan of the original will defenitly enjoy this movie. Hopefuly it will influence other film makers and they will realize that you don't need a big hollywood budget or backing to make great horror. Monroe the director defenitly gets back to the basics with this. True old school horror. There is way too much cgi in todays horror movies. Props to Monroe, I can't wait for his next movie.
I give I Spit on Your Grave 8 out of 10 stars.
